DCIU Expansion Update

September 23, 2014 – Aston Township Joseph Viscuso, PE, PLS of Pennoni Associates, Inc. has completed the following preliminary land development review as prepared by G.D. Houtman & Son, Inc. in connection with the referenced Aston Technical School – Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) project at 100 Crozerville Road.

This matter will not be considered before the Township planning commission until the applicant responds to the township engineer’s review comments and those comments are reviewed by the township engineer. Due to the fact that there remains unresolved issues to be addressed by the applicant, the October New Construction Committee meeting has been cancelled.

Eric DeLellis Named 2014 Aston Township Citizen of the Year

The Aston Board of Commissioners, during the September 17 meeting, named Eric DeLellis as the 2014 Aston Township Citizen of the Year.

DeLellis is a 1985 graduate of Sun Valley High School and and received a bachelors degree in environmental engineering in 1993 graduate from Lock Haven University.

A resident of the township since 2003, DeLellis currently serves as vice chairman of the township’s zoning hearing board,and is a member of the Veteran’s Memorial Garden committee.

DeLellis also volunteers his time as vice president of the Sun Valley High School Hockey Club.

A Captain in the Army Reserves, DeLellis was deployed to Iraq where he served from 2003-2004 in Baghdad. He was again deployed in 2009 as a major and served in Kuwait and Afghanistan.

In January of 2014 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. Married to Teri, DeLellis is the father of three children: Eric, Jr., Bailey and Madison.

Members of the board of commissioners, at the conclusion of the meeting, took turns congratulating DeLellis on his selection as Citizen of the Year. He will be honored at Aston Township Community Day, which will take place October 4.

The Aston Township community gathered Sept. 11 at the Memorial Gardens at Five Points to honor and remember those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Hosted by Township Boy Scout Troops 225 and 292, Girl Scout Troop 57075 and members of American Legion Post #926, the program included speeches, dedication of a wreath, readings, and memorials.

Master and mistress of ceremonies, scouts Rachael McCullough and Matthew Gane eloquently presented speakers which included Aston Commissioners Mike Higgins and Carol Graham; Bill Dondero representing U.S. Congressman Patrick Meehan (R-7); Kevin Andrews, who represented Pa. State Rep. Joe Hackett (R-161); and American Legion 2014 National Eagle Scout of the Year Joseph Blaisse. Read more

Green Ridge Fall Carnival is back. Last chance to enjoy a mild evening at the carnival before winter breaks. Wednesday, September 10 thru Saturday, September 13. The Carnival, which is held on the grounds of the Green Ridge Fire Company at 2900 W. Duttons Mill Rd., is the ideal event to not only support your local fire company but to bring the family out for some food, fun, and games. The Green Ridge Fire Department has been serving the community since 1942 and would like to invite all the people of Aston Township and surrounding communities to join in on the fun.
