Aston Names Fran Miles 2015 Citizen of the Year

Aston Commissioners, September 16, presented a proclamation to longtime resident Fran Miles naming him 2015 Aston Township Citizen of the Year. Photo by Loretta Rodgers

Aston Commissioners, during the September 16 meeting of the board, announced that longtime resident and coach Fran Miles has been named 2015 Township Citizen of the Year.

Miles will participate in the Community Day Parade on Oct. 3 and be honored during a special ceremony.

“I am very honored to have been chosen citizen of the year,” Miles said. “I am truly humbled by this recognition and I thank the people who nominated me.”

Aston Commemorates 9-11

Hundreds of Aston residents gathered Friday evening at the Township Memorial Gardens with local and state officials, boy and girl scout troops, American Legion Post #926, and police and emergency personnel to honor those who lost their lives during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Read more

DCIU Conditional Use Hearing Scheduled

The continuation of the DCIU Conditional Use Hearing has been scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2015 at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be held in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room in the Aston Township Municipal Building located at 5021 Pennell Road. The meeting is open to the public.
