Pennsylvania State Rep. Leanne Krueger-Braneky, D-161, last week, presented Aston Township commissioners with a check in the amount of $882,525, on behalf of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  The grant funds will be used for watershed restoration at Newsome Park, and roundabouts at Donnelly Avenue and McIntrye Drive.  The Newsome Park project will include improvements to a walking path and picnic areas, implementation of storm water management controls, planting native vegetation, and re-establishing two existing ponds to alleviate area flooding.  The funds will also address traffic concerns by adding roundabouts on Donnelly Avenue at the site of the Community Center and at McIntrye Drive located near Neumann University.  Krueger-Braneky praised commissioners and township officials for the presentation they provided on the projects.  “It was very easy to advocate for these proposals because the township did such good work with the presentations,” Krueger-Braneky said. “I look forward to working with the Board of Commissioners, new Township Manager and residents of Aston.”
