The Registry is a planning tool to allow individuals with special needs the opportunity to provide information to local and county emergency response agencies, so emergency responders can better plan to serve them in a disaster.

An individual with special needs is someone who will require assistance in excess of that provided to the general public in a time of disaster, particularly in the event that a large scale evacuation is necessary. To sign up, go to www.specialneedspa.org and click on New Users Click Here to Register. A family member or loved one can sign up on behalf of an individual.

By signing up for the Registry you will let emergency responders know who you are and what type of need you have. If a disaster occurs in your area, this registry will be used to enhance the efficiency of response agencies to serve those with specific needs. The information collected will be stored securely and will not be available to the public. You will be e-mailed once a year to verify and ensure the information provided is correct and to make any necessary changes. Individual surveys will be archived after one year if they are not verified.

If you sign up, it does not mean that you are not prioritized for first consideration or evacuation. In an emergency, the first line of defense is personal preparedness. It is important that all citizens have a personal emergency plan. Visit www.readypa.org for more information
