Aston Police Department Named 2016 Citizens Of The Year
Aston Commissioners, during the Sept. 21 meeting, named the Aston Police Department as 2016 Citizens of the Year. Commissioners President Jim Stigale read a proclamation praising Chief Dan Ruggieri and members of the police department for their professionalism and dedication to the township.
“The Aston Township Police Department provides excellent, professional service each and every day along with great concern for the safety and well-being of the Aston Township Community,” Stigale said. “Our dedicated police officers respond to emergencies, which often are of a life-threatening nature. Their ability to evaluate the situation quickly with regard and respect for all involved is always practiced. The dangers they encounter can change in a matter of seconds. Our brave officers give Aston Township residents protection, understanding and strength when it is truly needed. Our officers help this community no matter what the situation they encounter.” Stigale said the township police department provides first class service to the Aston community. He added that the officers can be found at all township events giving of their time to keep the community safe.
Stigale also made mention of the fact that Ruggieri is the current president of the Delaware County Police Chief’s Association.
“Our community is proud of our police department and we offer thanks and respect to them for all they do.” At the end of the meeting, every commissioner individually expressed appreciation to the chief and officers.
The Aston Township Police Department will serve as grand Marshals at Aston Community Day, which will take place 11 a.m. -3 p.m., October 1.
