The Aston Board of Commissioners, during the April 20 meeting, presented the Neumann University Knights roller hockey team with a proclamation in recognition of the team’s capturing the NCRHA Division II National Championship for the second consecutive time.

Commissioner Carl Graham, in reading the proclamation, said the National Roller Hockey Association invited 24 teams to participate in the tournament, out of a prospective field of 170 teams nationwide.

Neumann defeated Bethel University 3-2, the University of Las Vegas 3-2 and the University of Missouri at St. Louis 8-3.

The field narrowed to 16 teams for the single elimination tournament and Neumann defeated the University of Rhode Island 15-0 and Farmington State College 6-3, to reach the final four.

In their final four games, the Knights outscored their opponents 35-5.

The team reached its goal of earning a second national championship on April 9 by defeating the University of Nevada at Las Vegas 4-1.

Dr. Rosalie Mirenda, president of Neumann College congratulated the team, stating that Villanova University was not the only Delaware County based team to bring a national title to the area.
