2nd Ward Easter Egg Hunt was a great success, as expected. After first postponing due to the threat of bad weather, the rescheduled event went off without a hitch on Saturday the 26th and the weather could not have been better.

Aston Children Hop into Easter

More than 500 excited Aston children gathered on the field behind the Community Center on March 19 to participate in the township's annual Easter Egg hunt. Carrying brightly decorated baskets, bags and buckets, the children spent little time collecting the 13,000 Easter Eggs which dotted the field. Fire Station Announcement: The board of commissioners, after reviewing the public comments received at public meetings, the cost estimates for site development provided by the engineer and the statistics, including run times and manning fire calls provided by the Aston Township Fire Department, have decided to locate the new Aston Township Fire Department station at 2900 Dutton Mill Road, Aston. The board of commissioners will form a committee with the fire department to begin discussions on all aspects of financing the new fire station. Commissioner Carol Graham

Township Awarded $164,000 Grant from PA Dept. Conservation and Natural Resources

At the February 17, 2016 Board Of Commissioners meeting the board announced that Aston Township received a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in the amount of $164,000 to renovate Vinsmith Park. This grant is contingent on a 50% match which will be provided in part from cash and in part from the volunteer efforts of the Boy Scout Troop 225 and donations from local businesses.

Aston 1st Ward Commissioner Michael Link presented Sun Valley High School basketball player Kate Lannon with a certificate of achievement in recognition of Lannon’s scoring 1,000 points. The daughter of Mike and Terri Lannon, Kate scored her 1,000th point on Jan. 9 when the Sun Valley Vanguards defeated Chester High School 52-41. Aston Commissioners, during the January 20 meeting, presented a proclamation to the Sun Valley High School Band. Under the direction of Tim Pry, the band was recognized for placing first in every competition this season.
