Aston residents exhibited their spirit of patriotism by participating in and attending Memorial Day observances. Due to the threat of rain, American Legion Post #926 canceled its annual parade, however, the post proceeded with a well attended, indoor ceremony in honor of those who made  the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy. Aston Presbyterian Church Recognized on 150th Anniversary

Aston Commissioners, during the May 18 meeting, presented a proclamation to members of the Aston Presbyterian Church in recognition of the church’s 150th anniversary.

The rich history of the church dates back to the vision of Thomas Reaney, owner of a Shipyard in the city of Chester, who had a vision for the establishment of a Sabbath School for the children of his workers. Read more

Aston’s Thimble House on DIY (HGTV)

Thimble House – 816 Tryens Rd.

The Thimble house located at 816 Tryens Road will be featured on television, 10:30 p.m., Wednesday on DIY (HGTV), channel 121 on Comcast, channel 167, 667 on Verizon.

The episode titled “Stone House Revival” will feature carpenter Jeff Devlin restoring the basement of one of the oldest houses in the area.

The Thimble House is a 1684 home owned by Scott and Janet Hinman. Jeff will create two bar areas, a sitting area, and he will restore the home’s mudroom and entryway.

2016 Aston Township Memorial Day Parades and Ceremonies

The American Legion Post 926 has planned a parade and ceremonies. American Legion Post 87 and VFW Post 6613 on the north end of town and the American Legion Post 926 on the South side. Read more
