Aston Commissioners, during the December 17 meeting, presented longtime deputy health officer James Talbot with a proclamation and engraved wrist watch in recognition of his retirement.
Talbot served as deputy health officer for 17 years, and in his honor, many current and former employees were present for his recognition.
Talbot, who has resided in the township for 62 years, is married to Eleanor and the couple have three sons; Jim, Ron and Kevin.
Over the years, Talbot’s sons were involved in a multitude of sports programs and for his dedication, several years ago, Talbot was inducted into the Aston Township Sports Hall of Fame.
Talbot and is family are members in good standing at St. Joseph Church and he enjoys all sports, especially golf.
“This gentleman has done an outstanding job with all responsibilities and duties as deputy health officer,” said Commissioner Jim McGinn. “He often had difficult and very sensitive situations with which to deal. We all have been very fortunate to have such a well respected, knowledgeable and dedicated man representing the township.”
Talbot expressed appreciation to his family and all those with whom he worked over the years.
“I’d like to thank the commissioners for bestowing this proclamation upon me,’” Talbot said. “I’ve had a lot of fun in 16 years. Some were good and some were bad, but you have to take the good with the bad. I’d like to thank Police Chief Dan Ruggieri. The Aston Township Police Department is one of the finest in the world. They have helped me in my job immensely. It has been an honor to work with all of the people here, especially the girls in the office.”
