Aston Commissioners, during the March 18 meeting, declared the week of April 12-18 as National Library Week.
Aston Public Library Director Stephen Sarazin, on behalf of the library staff and volunteers, graciously accepted the resolution.
Second Ward Commissioner Carol Graham, who serves as liaison to the Aston Public Library, said libraries are the heart of their respective communities. She added that librarians work hard to meet the changing needs of their communities, which includes providing resources for all and taking services outside the library walls into he community.
“Libraries bring together community members to enrich and shape the community and address local issues,” Graham said. “They also offer programs to meet community needs, providing technology training and access to downloadable content such as e-books.”
Graham said she and the board of commissioners were honored to present the resolution for National Library Week.
