Aston Township Police Officer Thomas J. Giancristoforo, Jr., during the May 20 meeting of the Aston Board of Commissioners, was presented a proclamation and recognized as Police Officer of the Year.
Giancristoforo was also honored on May 7 by the members of the Aston Township Lions Club during their meeting, which was held at The Liberty Baptist Church. He was presented with a check in the amount of $250, made as a donation to the Aston Township Police Department.
Giancristoforo, who has served on the force for 12 years, was nominated by his fellow officers, not for one specific event, but for the many contributions he makes to the department and service to his community on a daily basis.
“Tom’s high ethical and moral values are just a few of the reasons why he was chosen for this honor and why he is respected by his peers,” said 5th Ward Commissioner Jim McGinn, who presented the proclamation. “As you can clearly see, Officer Thomas Giancristoforo is a shining example of what a police officer should be in today’s society, and why he is truly an asset to the Aston Township Police Department and to the residents of the township.”
Giancristoforo was congratulated by all of the members of the board of commissioners, who expressed appreciation for his service to the community.
