Aston Commissioners, Feb. 17, recognized Sun Valley High School Junior Kate Lannon for her excellence on the basketball court.

The daughter of Mike and Terri Lannon, Kate scored her 1,000th point on Jan. 9 when the Sun Valley Vanguards defeated Chester High School 52-41.

Kate is only the second player in Sun Valley High School history to score 1,000 points before her senior year.

She played youth basketball in Aston, St. Joseph’s CYO, and on the Northley Middle School team. She also plays during the summer months for the Comets, an AAU team.

Over the past two years, Kate has been a second team All-Delco selection as well as the All-Ches-Mont first team.

Currently, Kate has the distinction of being the top scorer in the entire Ches-Mont League.
