Aston Township Partners with EMSS to Fill the Crozer Void

Aston Township Commissioners Hire Delaware County Firm, EMSS, To Provide Advanced Life Support Services (ALS) for residents

Aston Township has engaged Event Medical Staffing Solutions (EMSS) to provide advanced life support (ALS) services to fill the imminent void from the closing of Crozer. With Crozer closing, the ALS service they provided to Aston Township will cease as well. Over these last few months the Aston township board of commissioners along with the Aston Fire Department, have been looking at possible solutions.

To address this situation, Aston Township issued a Declaration of Emergency on March 17, 2025, which allowed us to take immediate and decisive action to protect public health.  This declaration enables the Township to streamline emergency operations, expedite support services and access additional resources/funding if made available.

The Aston Township Board of Commissioners has approached this matter with the utmost seriousness and are announcing a new partnership with Event Medical Staffing Solutions (EMSS) to develop a coordinated plan that ensures continued access to emergency medical services for our community.

EMSS joins us with nearly 20 years of experience, widely recognized for its high standards in emergency medical care and effective collaboration with local fire and police departments.  A fully equipped ALS response unit will be based at the Aston Township Fire Department, staffed by licensed paramedics, trained in managing life-threatening emergencies and outfitted with state-of-the-art medical equipment.  This strategic move reflects a broader countywide effort to address service gaps and evolving EMS needs.

Concurrently, Aston Township Fire Department will continue to provide the basic life support (BLS) ambulance services that are a vital part of emergency healthcare in the township.

The Township Fire Committee has spent countless hours working towards this plan and will continue to work on the seamless integration of EMSS into their new role.

Special recognition should be given to the following individuals on these efforts:

  • Aston Fire Committee
    • Joe McGinn, Chair
    • Nancy Bowden, Commissioner
    • Kevin Tinsley, Commissioner
    • Kelly A. Pippin, Asst. Township Manager
    • Sean Joyce, Fire Marshal
    • Tom Morgan, Emergency Management Coordinator
    • Ken Dawson, ATFD Deputy Chief & EMS Liaison

This solution should provide confidence to the residents of Aston that the Board of Commissioners & Fire Department are doing everything in our collective power to provide these necessary services for our residents.

In case of an emergency, residents should continue to dial 911, dispatchers will direct calls to the appropriate response team to ensure the fastest and most effective care.  For more information about EMSS please visit their website at www.4EMSS.com.  Residents can also reach out to the Aston Township Municipal Office with further questions at 610-494-1636.
