Aston Valley Baseball League announces Opening Day will be on Saturday, April 9, 2016. As we have in years past, we will start with a parade at 8:30AM from the Community Center down to Weir Park. Following the parade, we will have our Opening Day Ceremony on our Major League Field at approximately 9:30AM.  We hope that the community will be able to join us as our coaches, volunteers, parents and young players kick off another season of baseball. Thank you for your continued support to our league and all of our players.

Township Awarded $164,000 Grant from PA Dept. Conservation and Natural Resources

At the February 17, 2016 Board Of Commissioners meeting the board announced that Aston Township received a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in the amount of $164,000 to renovate Vinsmith Park. This grant is contingent on a 50% match which will be provided in part from cash and in part from the volunteer efforts of the Boy Scout Troop 225 and donations from local businesses.

Sun Valley Basketball Player Recognized for Scoring 1,000 points

Aston 1st Ward Commissioner Michael Link presented Sun Valley High School basketball player Kate Lannon with a certificate of achievement in recognition of Lannon’s scoring 1,000 points. The daughter of Mike and Terri Lannon, Kate scored her 1,000th point on Jan. 9 when the Sun Valley Vanguards defeated Chester High School 52-41. Township Brine Truck Makes Debut to Prep for Winter Storm Jonas

New Township brine dispensing equipment. The Public Works Department used a little ingenuity to make their own brine truck for the winter season. A brine maker is similar to what PennDOT has and uses a mix of salt and water to prep the roads before a winter storm. The Public Works employees went online and found the instructions before constructing it with about $400 in materials.
