Aston Commissioners Hire New Police Officers

Aston Commissioners, during a recent meeting, announced the hiring of new part-time police officers Thomas Piraino and Jonathan Curtis, effective Jan. 4. Piraino is a graduate of Salesianum School and is currently studying emergency management at Delaware County Community College. He is a sergeant  in the Delaware Army National Guard and a veteran of the war in Afghanistan. Piraino is a member of the Aston Township Fire Department. Aston Township Declares State of Emergency

Aston Township has declared a “State of Emergency”.  The Township Police department, Fire department, and EMS services will remain in service for continuous 24 hour coverage.  In the event of an emergency all residents are urged to dial 911. We encourage all residents to refrain from driving to improve emergency response and so that our snow removal crews can clear to roadways.

Aston Township 1st Annual Holiday Decorating Winners Announced

The Aston Township Parks and Recreation Committee in conjunction with the township board of commissioners, is pleased to announce the first place and honorable mention winners in the inaugural township holiday decorating contest. The holiday decorating contest ran through December 20 when teams of impartial judges were dispersed throughout each ward in the township to determine this year's winners. Two residences in each ward were selected to receive a first place award of a $100 gift card to Giant Market and honorable mention winners received a $50 gift card to Wawa.

When the Aston Rebels Ice Hockey team scored its first goal about ten minutes into the first period of Sunday’s game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights at the Ice Works skating complex, about 100 teddy bears were simultaneously thrown on to the ice.
