Work on the new Aston Township Municipal Building and Police Department is complete, and the building is now occupied. The new building is located near the center of the town to better serve our residents and provide public safety. With the addition of our new municipal building and police department, existing Community Center, Fieldhouse, and Library, we now have a complete municipal complex in place. Add the multipurpose Smiles in the Playground, Amphitheater, and athletic fields, we have a campus for the added use and enjoyment of all our residents. A lot of the municipalities in Delaware County cannot boast of having such a great venue.

Next on the schedule are improvements to the intersection of Concord Road and Donnelly Avenue funded by a PennDOT MTF Grant and Township funding. This includes traffic calming measures to improve vehicle and pedestrian safety, and traffic flow. Vehicle access to the intersection from Donnelly Avenue and the Community Center and left-hand turns from Concord Road can be difficult during most of the day. Pedestrian crossings can also be a challenge. The primary improvements are as follows:

  1. Project boundaries are just west of Media Children’s House (MCH) on Concord Road to just east of St. Joseph’s Church.
  2. Widening will occur on the North side of Concord Road.
  3. Installation of medians with breaks between MCH and the Church property to slow vehicular traffic.
  4. Addition of left-hand turn lanes in both directions on Concord Road.
  5. New Traffic signals at the Concord Road/Donnelly Avenue intersection with pedestrian push buttons for crossing.
  6. Pedestrian crossings at the new intersection, pedestrian and vehicle safety signage, and speed limit signs.
  7. Eventually, utility pole lighting will be replaced by decorative pedestrian lighting like Pennell Road as part of the planned Concord Road Streetscaping Plan.

The contractor plans to start the job in early spring of 2026. An overhead view of the project area on Concord Road can be seen here.
