Due to the COVID-19 Virus and the limited/rotating staff currently operating at the Township, after today, Friday March 20, 2020 Aston Township Public Works will only be collecting TRASH AND RECYCLING from residents. To protect the public from the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), it is necessary that no person or entity shall operate a place of business that is not a life sustaining business regardless of whether the business is open to members of the public. COVID-19 is a contagious disease that is rapidly spreading from person to person. People infected are capable of exposing others to COVID-19 even if their simptoms are mild, such as a cough. additionally, exposure is possible by toughing a surface or object that has the virus on it and then toughing one's mouth, nose or eyes.
Governor Tom Wolf today requested that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) implement an SBA disaster declaration to provide assistance in the form of SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans for businesses and eligible non-profits in all 67 counties in Pennsylvania. “The impact of financial losses related to COVID-19 will be felt for years to come,” said Gov. Wolf. “But these low-interest loans can help bridge the gap between economic losses now and economic recovery in the future.” […]
As of March 13, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. Aston Township has issued a Declaration of Disaster Emergency due to the Coronavirus- “COVID-19”. What this means is the COVID-19 Coronavirus could endanger the health, safety and welfare of a substantial number of persons residing in Aston Township, especially our senior citizens, and create problems greater in scope than the Township may be able to resolve.
The Delaware County Department of Intercommunity Health Communications has established a Coronavirus (COVID-19) resource website to keep residents informed with up-to-date communication regarding the status of the virus in Delaware County.
As Spring approaches Aston Township would once again like to recognize Energy Transfer for the role role they played in newly completed Smiles in the Playground project. The project was made possible by a $306,466.47 donation from Energy Transfer to help build and equip the playground. Smiles in the Playground, a handicap-accessible playground that is inclusive to all children, with a special focus on those with disabilities.
Township residents are probably aware of the Coronavirus outbreak which first appeared in China and has now reached our shores. This virus, known as COVID-19, causes respiratory illness with symptoms ranging from mild to severe. Symptoms can include Fever, Cough, and Shortness of Breath and may appear anywhere from 2-14 days after exposure. Residents can reduce their risk of infection by doing the following: FREQUENT washing of hands with soap and water. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
