  Environmental awareness and sustainability have become a priority in Aston, and the recycling effort is leading the way. As you can see in the chart above, community members have taken our weekly recycling much more seriously in 2013 so far and it is helping the town of Aston quite a bit. Recycling does help to bring in additional revenue but that is not the most important aspect of our “green” endeavor. The Aston township Building and Code department has been revamped to help better support you the residents. The restructuring of the department has allowed for township employees to spend more time out in the community checking up on permits, getting to know the contractors, residents, and developing a working relationship with the community. PECO is urging customers to be aware of a scam that continues to target customers in the Philadelphia area. The scam, which has been reportedly taking place throughout the country, claims that customers are behind on their account and must make immediate payment to avoid service termination. Customers are being asked to purchase a pre-paid debit card, in random amounts, from local pharmacies or convenience stores. The customer is then directed to contact a number to utilize the card for immediate payment to their account. Here in Aston Township we believe that to truly benefit the community we need to offer programs for residents of all ages. That being said, Senior Community Services has released the Spring 2013 course offerings from the Center for Life Learning. These programs are designed and offered for individuals ages 50 and over. The areas of study offered for the spring include: Art & Design, Driver Education, Literature, Fitness, Health and Wellness, and Senior Topics.
