Delaware County Intermediate (DCIU) Unit Roundabout Update

As you all know, the roundabout project located at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) began with the road closures the first week of September 2018 with an anticipated completion date of Friday, December 14, 2018 (four to six weeks including the forty-five-day window).  As you know, this has not happened, the Township along with Commissioner Graham have been working diligently to have this project completed.  We have been in contact with the utility companies on almost a daily basis, the final hold-up has been the removal of utilities by Verizon and the hesitation from PennDOT on opening the road as the utilities currently stand.  A meeting between PennDOT and Verizon is scheduled for next week, we are hopeful that with this meeting a resolution for these issues can be rectified and the road may finally be operational.  We do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused all residents and non-residents, if you should have any issues you may contact the following:

Aston Township – astonweb@astontownship.net or By Phone: 610-494-1636

PennDOT. – By phone – 1-800-349-7623

Verizon – By phone – 1-800-837-4966.

In addition, please be advised the roundabout is still closed for traffic due to obstacles in the surface of the road that make it unsafe for travel.  Anyone that removes the barricades or otherwise drives on or through the roundabout will be cited, the contractors still have an obligation to secure the area for residents.

DCIU Roundabout Update

Please be advised, the roundabout located at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit is NOT OPEN.  It has been brought to the attention of the Township that people are moving barricades and driving on the roundabout.  This cannot happen, it will not allow the asphalt and cement that has been placed to lay properly which can cause prolonged issues.  Proper signage and pavement markings have not been installed which can lead to serious accidents.  Pavement markings will also be taking place within the next couple days, that cannot be driven on.  Additionally, there are Verizon poles and wires that are still on the premises and need to be removed.
