Aston Welcomes the Holidays With Tree Lighting and Winter Festival

by Loretta Rodgers. More than 500 Aston residents attended the township’s annual tree lighting and winter festival, which took place December 4 at the community center. Prior to the lighting of the township Christmas tree, songs of the season were performed by the Aston and Pennell Elementary Choirs. After the tree was lit, Santa Claus made his grand entrance riding high above an Aston Township fire truck. AFTD Active Member Scott Jones The appearance of Santa in Aston has been postponed so that our community may honor the service and passing of one of our beloved first responders. The Aston Township Fire Department regrets to announce the death of Active Member Scott Jones. Scott was an 18 year member of the Aston Township Fire Department where he held the ranks of Lieutenant, Assistant Engineer and Trustee. The fact that Aston Community Day was held a week later than originally planned certainly did not affect the numbers of attendees.
