Rockdale Arts District Overlay Approved

The Rockdale Arts District was unanimously voted into the Aston Township zoning code at the Board of Commissioners meeting on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.  Thank you to Commissioner John Dougherty and the rest of the committee that worked diligently together for over a year from fruition to finalization, making the Art District possible.  Aston Township looks forward to seeing all of the amazing and beautiful things the Art District will bring to our already great Township. Donnelly Avenue Roundabout Meeting – Update 10-21-2021

The Aston Township Board of Commissioners held an informational meeting on the proposed construction of a Traffic Roundabout at the intersection of Concord Road and Donnelly Avenue at the Aston Community Center on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. There were a number of residents that attended this meeting, the following will be the next steps to accommodate the concerns of the residents as well as find the best traffic calming solution for that location. Relocation of Township Offices and Police Department

The Aston Township Offices and Police Department located at 5021 Pennell Road will be relocating to new office space in the Riddle Valley Industrial Park at 2 New Road at the end of September.  The phone numbers for the Township Offices and the Police Department will remain the same. Clearing To Begin For Amphitheater Project

Beginning the week of August 23rd the clearing of trees and shrubs behind the Community Center will take place. This clearing is being done as the beginning phase for the 300 seat amphitheater that will be built  in the future. Currently the Township is only doing site preparation and grading for the project. Joseph McGinn Appointed Second Ward Commissioner

At a special meeting of the Aston Township Board of Commissioners yesterday, Joseph McGinn, Jr. was appointed Second Ward Commissioner. Joe was sworn in by the Honorable Magisterial District Judge, Diane Holefelder, in the presence of his family. As a result of resumes being submitted by qualified individuals from the Second Ward, the Commissioners conducted interviews and selected Joe McGinn. He will complete the term of former Second Ward Commissioner Carol Graham which expires January 1, 2022. It is with great sadness the Aston Township Board of Commissioners regrets to inform our residents of the sudden passing of Second Ward Commissioner, Carol A. Graham.  Commissioner Graham was currently serving her eleventh year as Township Commissioner.  In those eleven years the things she was able to accomplish were unmeasurable.  Commissioner Graham served as the Liaison for the Parks and Recreation Committee for the past ten years, in that time her involvement included the Township’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt & Bunny Brunch, Christmas Tree Lighting and Winter Fun Festival, Summer Movie Nights as well as our Hometown Concert Series.  Most [...]
